ConneXu Achieves WorkWell Gold
A Big Step Forward for Team & Partner Wellbeing
We’re delighted to share that ConneXu has achieved WorkWell Gold Accreditation — the highest recognition in the WorkWell programme. This marks an important milestone in a wellbeing journey that began with Bronze in 2023, progressed to Silver in 2024, and now reaches its strongest point yet.
WorkWell is a free workplace wellbeing initiative that helps organisations “work better through wellbeing.” It provides a clear framework that supports workplaces to build effective, sustainable wellbeing programmes — something that aligns strongly with our values and our commitment to caring for our team and the people we partner with.
To achieve the Gold Standard, ConneXu needed to demonstrate strong, sustained progress across multiple areas of wellbeing. A key part of this was evaluating and improving our existing wellbeing work. We undertook a full review of our wellbeing actions — gathering team member feedback, survey results, and participation data — and used these insights to refine and strengthen our approach.
Strong leadership commitment was another essential element. Our Executive and Senior Leaders actively championed wellbeing through signing the WorkWell pledge, resourcing activities, speaking at hui, and modelling a culture where wellbeing is recognised as an organisational priority. Alongside this, our Wellbeing Committee played a central role. Made up of team members and disabled partners, the committee helps shape our monthly wellbeing initiatives and leads much of the communication and planning across ConneXu.
Clear communication and consistent engagement were also vital. At the start of each year, a full wellbeing calendar is developed, with regular updates shared through emails, posters, hui, the intranet, newsletters, and house mailouts — ensuring everyone stays informed and connected.
Finally, achieving Gold required comprehensive data and planning. We completed an organisational profile, ran a team member and partner wellbeing survey, compared outcomes with previous years, and created a two-year Action and Evaluation Plan covering seven priority wellbeing areas.
Together, these efforts demonstrated that wellbeing at ConneXu is not an “add-on” — it is embedded, intentional, and continuously strengthening year after year.
What Reaching Gold Means for ConneXu
During interviews by the Toi Te Ora Public Health assessment team, team members shared that wellbeing at ConneXu now feels:
More tangible and practical
Better supported by leadership
A source of connection across teams
Something that “makes me feel like a person rather than a number”
Directly beneficial to the people we partner with, as “all the benefits ripple through.”
For whānau and partners, WorkWell Gold reflects an organisation where wellbeing is prioritised for everyone — our team and the people we partner with. A healthier, more supported workforce, combined with wellbeing initiatives that include disabled partners, helps create stronger relationships, better experiences, and a more connected ConneXu community.
Looking Ahead
Reaching Gold is a significant milestone, but it’s not the end of our journey. We will continue strengthening our wellbeing practices, gathering feedback from team members and partners, and embedding wellbeing into every part of our organisation.
At the heart of this work is a simple belief:
When wellbeing is supported across our whole community, everyone thrives.
