The Shift From ‘Support Of’ To ‘Partnering With’

April 2022

One aspect of ConneXu’s change journey for system transformation is to look at the language utilised within ConneXu and how this aligns with the principles of enabling good lives. Language is important in every aspect of our lives as it allows people to communicate in a manner that enables the sharing of common ideas, express feelings and needs, and is a critical enabler of developing a trusting partnership between people.

Our change journey together is focused on developing and sustaining partnerships that enable people with disabilities to live their best life.

Partnering and enablement will improve and increase individuals’ capacity and capability over time. These improvements will lead to increased choice and control for disabled persons and the achievement of the goals that they have set for themselves.

Given this, the team that has been previously known as Services and Development now welcomes a new team name, Partnerships, and Enablement to align with our new focus.

Some changes have happened as a result of this, these include: Kat Price has successfully been appointed as the Senior Leader Partnerships & Enablement BOP/Lakes reporting to Kate Shaw. Kat was previously a Service Manager in the Bay of Plenty. Congratulations Kat on your appointment!
We are currently advertising for a Senior Leader of Partnerships and Enablement in the Waikato/King Country.
As we move from ‘support of’ to ‘partnership with’ it’s important that we are ALL on the same page.

Oxford dictionary defines partnership and enablement as:
Partnership: the state of being a partner or partners.

Enablement: the action of giving someone the authority or means to do something.
