ConneXu facilitates whole of life support for adults with an intellectual disability in a range of different circumstances and in a variety of ways. Some people live in their own homes and receive specific support to assist with their needs or to help them pursue their interests, while others live in a flatting situation with 24/7 facilitation and oversight. The focus of service development is on facilitating a range of options to best suit the aspirations of people who require some assistance to live their lives their way.
About the role
The core focus of this role is to lead the finance team as well as prepare general ledger journals, accruals, reconciliations, fixed asset register and bank reconciliations.
This role will also provide assistance to the Executive Leader Business and Finance with preparation of monthly reports budgets, forecasts, and other higher level accounting analysis.
The main functions of this role include:
Review of Accounts Payable & Receivables
Month end journals
Processing weekly & monthly payroll journals
Supporting the Executive Leader – Business and Finance and wider administrative team
Reconciling and oversight of the bank account of the organisation
Processing payments and invoices accurately and within expected time periods
Verifying financial statements, ledgers and accounts and making corrections where appropriate
Managing the contracts and invoicing processes
Preparing and reconciliation of GST return and PAYE
Full review and analysis of general ledger
Managing the asset schedule in consultation with Asset and Operations Manager
Collaborating with the executive team to work on various accounting projects as and when required
About you
You are not scared to jump in and get involved to ensure your team meets deadlines and department requirements. You will also be willing to learn and adapt to ensure the business and finance team is continuously improving. You will have the ability to work autonomously and work well under pressure. You will demonstrate strong leadership skills and have proven experience managing a team.
We are looking for someone with practical and accurate accounting capability, strong understanding of general accounting principles and excellent MS Excel skills.
Formal accounting qualifications are not essential, however confident experience with calculating and processing payroll and in financial accounting packages is important; specific experience with IMS payroll, MYOB, would be advantageous although training can be given to the right applicant if necessary.
Other important attributes are high standards of written English and communication, team work ethic, self-motivation and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and initiative to self-manage regular duties and properly prioritise urgent and routine workload.
